When it comes to hiring a carpet cleaning company you need to understand that not all cleaning companies are the same. Some are terrific, some are just ok, and some are flat out terrible. How do you tell the good ones from the bad? Well it is not always easy because in the carpet cleaning industry, like many industries, companies can basically say anything they want...but they do not always practice what they preach or market.

What to look for in a great carpet cleaning company?
- Do they offer a guarantee? If they don't then don't use them. If you are not satisfied with the work then you should not have to pay. If they offer a guarantee that is good to you then that is a good first step.
- Do they have the training? That is really hard to know so getting referrals is a good way to go in most cases. There are companies that have all sorts of certifications but can't clean a lick. And there are companies that have NO certifications and do a great job. So ask for referrals and check the referrals out.
- What kind of equipment do they use? This is a tough one because you can get good results from almost all methods. The most recommended method is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning....although no steam is actually used. You will hear many cleaners talking about truckmounts but having a truckmount is not a huge advantage over a portable. What matters the most in carpet cleaning is the knowledge of the cleaner. But having your carpet cleaned using a truckmount or quality portable in most cases the way to go.
- Does the company use airmovers? This is important because using airmovers helps the carpet dry quicker and reduces the chances of long dry times. Ask the company if they use airmovers.
- Does the company offer a warranty program with their carpet protector and their cleaning? If the company does not offer a guarantee on their cleaning and their carpet protector you have to ask them why. The guarantees are really valuable.
- Ask the company if they offer free bottles of spotters. Most quality companies help you keep your carpet cleaner by offering free bottles of spotters.
- And finally, ask the company if they are willing to come to your home and give you a free no obligation quote. If they are not willing to do that you have to ask yourself why. There is no way a company can give a firm honest quote without first seeing the job.
